Caldera Vineyard Estate is looking for a passionate and capable Duty Manager to lead our front-of-house team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a premium vineyard setting in beautiful Akaroa, where high standards, warm service, and sustainability come together.

The Role

As Duty Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day service, lead the FOH team, and ensure every guest has an exceptional experience. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, excellent customer service, and sound operational oversight.

Key Details:

  • Full-time role: Thursday to Monday
  • Weekend and evening availability essential
  • Increased hours during peak summer (7-day operation)
  • Annual winter close-down (approx. 8 weeks – leave taken during this period)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support front-of-house team during service
  • Manage daily operations including reservations, POS, and service flow
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and host responsibilities
  • Handle guest feedback with professionalism
  • Train, mentor, and support staff performance
  • Assist with inventory, events, and administrative tasks as needed

About You

  • Minimum 2 years previous experience in hospitality management or supervisory roles
  • Strong people skills with a hands-on leadership style
  • Confident in handling service pressure and resolving issues
  • Knowledge of food control plans and responsible alcohol service
  • Current Duty Manager Certificate (or willing to obtain)
