POSITION DESCRIPTION: Barista and Front of House Superstar

The Common Cafe and Garden Bar is looking for a Barista Superstar to join our skilled, fun and vibrant Front of House team. Our cafe is a place for locals and travelers to come together reveling in tempting food, delicious coffee and a welcoming ambiance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Work well within a diverse team environment.
• Manage busy periods with confidence.
• Greet customers with friendly and personalised service, and develop genuine rapport with local and frequent visitors.
• Setting up and operating coffee equipment, including coffee grinder, Wega coffee machine, and PUQpress press.
• Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, both hot and cold.
• Prepare and serve cold drinks, such as smoothies and milkshakes.
• Use Lightspeed POS system and manage cash while taking customer orders.
• Answer the work phone in a courteous and professional manner.
• Clear tables, and wash and put away dishes.
• Run food and drink orders in a timely manner.
• Keep the inside and outside of the cafe presentable, safe and tidy.
• Set up and prepare the coffee machine and drinks station at the beginning of the day.
• Pack down, clean and restock the coffee machine and drinks station at the end of day.

Remuneration and Hours of Work

The position is competitively remunerated, between $25 and $27 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This position involves working a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of one year working as a barista.
• Demonstrable knowledge of coffee equipment.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $25.00 – $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
