Job Description – Regional Traffic Supervisor (Night Shift)

The Regional Traffic Supervisor – Night Shift is responsible for overseeing night-shift traffic management operations, supporting field crews, and ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of services. The role also provides administrative and operational support to the wider company while on night shift, including assisting the day-shift team as required.

Location: This role could be based out of our Tauranga. If you are the right person for the job, location flexibility will be considered.


Key Responsibilities
1. Night Shift Oversight
  • Provide leadership and support to all night-shift traffic crews.
  • Monitor work quality, safety performance, and compliance with TMPs, COPTTM standards, and company procedures.
  • Respond to operational issues, incidents, and urgent client requests.
2. Technical Support & Training
  • Provide on-site technical guidance to STMSs, TCs, and crew members.
  • Coach and mentor staff to improve competency and consistency.
  • Support onboarding and ensure staff understand operational expectations.
3. Audits & Compliance
  • Conduct regular site audits, vehicle checks, and compliance inspections.
  • Ensure adherence to TMPs, Health & Safety requirements, and internal policies.
  • Identify non-conformances and implement corrective actions or additional training.
4. Operational Support
  • Assist with resourcing, deployment, and coordination of night-shift operations.
  • Support emergency response, reactive works, and changing client priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with dispatch, operations, and day-shift leadership to ensure seamless shift continuity.
5. Administration & Reporting
  • Complete shift reports, audits, H&S documentation, and operational records accurately and on time.
  • Manage staff notifications including absences, incidents, or concerns.
  • Maintain accurate digital and physical records in line with company systems.
6. Client Communication
  • Communicate professionally with clients and site representatives during night operations.
  • Provide updates, address concerns, and escalate matters requiring follow-up.
  • Ensure service delivery meets or exceeds client expectations.
7. Shift Handover
  • Provide a clear and structured handover to the day-shift team including staffing updates, risks, incidents, client instructions, and operational issues requiring follow-up.
  • Highlight any actions needed by management or operations for support during the next shift.
8. Company Support & Day-to-Day Operations (while on Night Shift)
  • Carry out duties consistent with the general day-to-day running of the company while working night shift.

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the day-shift team when required, including:

  • Data entry and updates to operational records

  • Collation of reports, audit results, or shift documentation
  • Staff attendance, scheduling notifications, or follow-ups
  • Actioning or progressing items identified during night operations
  • Assisting with compliance documentation, planning tasks, or audit preparation
  • Support effective communication and continuity between night and day operations.
  • Assist with broader business functions when operational requirements necessitate flexibility.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Current STMS (appropriate level).
  • Full driver licence (endorsements as needed).
  • Proven experience in traffic management or supervisory roles.
  • Ability to work steady night shifts.
