About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist in NPHS is a registered nurse with expert knowledge both in direct care delivery and in supporting others across this specialty area. This role provides subject matter expertise related to improving immunisation outcomes at a regional and local level working collaboratively to deliver the regional immunisation programme in a safe, efficient and professional manner.

About the Team/Service/ Location

You will be joining a passionate and committed Community and Whanau Wellbeing team that is committed to improving immunisation outcomes for the people we serve. We are dedicated and driven to achieve Pae Ora (healthy futures for all) by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About you

You understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are skilled in applying its principles effectively in your role. You are a senior experienced nurse with expertise to establish, maintain and monitor quality and safety standards related to immunisation within Te Manawa Taki NPHS nursing workforce. You work well across multi-disciplinary teams with a collaborative and inclusive communication manner. You are a proven immunisation champion, with a strong understanding of the barriers to access that contribute to poor vaccination rates and a commitment to removing these barriers. You have a keen eye for detail and proven experience in policy and protocol writing.

  • A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
  • Current Nursing annual practising certificate (without restrictions)
  • Current unrestricted drivers licence
  • A current whole of life vaccinator
  • Experience working collaboratively and across the health sector in a public health related role
  • Experience in practice development and quality improvement strategies
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation and coaching skills
  • Desired:
  • Experience working in a regional health service
  • Expert level PDRP or Huarahi Whakatū
