Partners Life is one of New Zealand's largest life and health insurance companies. As part of the Dai-ichi Life Group, a leading global insurance provider, we are entering an exciting new chapter of growth and opportunity.

We know the industry needs bold thinkers and passionate people to help reshape the future of insurance, and that is exactly who we are looking for. We are committed to doing things differently, lifting industry standards, challenging the status quo, and delivering real value through innovation and personalised advice.

If you are looking to join a company that's redefining the insurance landscape and backed by the strength of a global group, Partners Life is the place to grow your career and make a real impact.

About the opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and driven Actuarial Analyst to join our collaborative and supportive Actuarial team. In the role, you will develop and enhance actuarial models, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, reserving, and solvency assessments. You will make a tangible impact on our company's financial stability and gain valuable experience in a dynamic modelling environment.

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex actuarial models used for financial reporting (e.g., IFRS 17, Solvency, Pricing), and internal capital assessments.
  • Perform rigorous testing, validation, and documentation of actuarial models to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and stress testing to evaluate the impact of various risks and market conditions on the company's financial position.
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate actuarial models with other business systems and ensure seamless data flow and reporting.
  • Present complex model findings and limitations clearly to stakeholders, driving informed business decisions and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

About you

You are an actuarial analyst or insurance professional with up to 3 years of experience in insurance or financial services, or a recent graduate with excellent analytical skills and a background in actuarial science, mathematics or statistics. You are passionate about building a career in actuarial science, in areas such as valuation, capital, reinsurance or pricing.

Besides your technical expertise, you bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.

Attributes that will help you succeed:

  • Tertiary qualification in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or a relevant discipline
  • A strong commitment to pursuing actuarial certification
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL—or a keen willingness to learn
  • Analytical thinking and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Great attention to detail and a dedication to producing high quality work
  • Effective time management, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines

What We Offer

At Partners Life, we believe our people are our greatest asset and are proud to invest in their growth, wellbeing, and success. Here are just some of the benefits you will enjoy as part of our family (some benefits apply to permanent employees only):

  • Comprehensive training and ongoing support
  • Genuine career development and progression opportunities
