Senior Actuarial Specialist

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Actuary, you'll play a key part in delivering sharp actuarial insights that drive commercial outcomes, support sustainable growth, and keep our business future-fit. You'll work across reserving, capital, reinsurance and financial reporting, connecting technical expertise with customer and market value.

Base yourself in our new Wellington office or join us in Takapuna and move with us to our new offices in mid 2026

In this key role, you'll

• Lead complex actuarial analysis and projects, delivering clear insights, accuracy and timely advice
• Oversee assumption setting and experience investigations across reserving, capital and reinsurance
• Manage and optimise the reinsurance portfolio to strengthen risk management and profitability
• Partner with finance, product and risk teams to turn technical insight into strategic action
• Coach and mentor analysts, lifting capability and building a team known for excellence

To be successful and grow in this role you will bring

• Qualified actuary with 7+ years' experience in life insurance or financial services
• Strong background in reinsurance, experience analysis, assumptions or capital management
• Advanced modelling and problem-solving skills, ideally using Prophet, R, MoSes, Python or Excel
• Ability to translate complex concepts for non-technical audiences
• Collaborative, driven approach with proven project leadership and mentoring experience
