The Opportunity

As Head of National People Services, you'll take responsibility for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and future-focused people services.

You'll oversee a broad portfolio spanning recruitment, payroll, HR systems, workforce insights, and operational delivery. Working as part of the People and Culture Leadership Team, your focus will be on leading transformational initiatives in people services, strengthening HR processes and systems, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.

This role will suit a leader who brings both vision and a strong track record of successfully delivering HR operations on a wide scale — someone who can move between strategy and detail, drive transformation, and build a sense of shared purpose.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and develop national teams delivering core people operations and services
  • Drive transformation projects that enhance efficiency, quality, and user experience
  • Oversee the integrity and performance of HR systems, payroll, and workforce data
  • Partner with senior leaders to align people operations with organisational strategy
  • Build enduring relationships across unions and key stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance, transparency, and sustainability across all people services

About You

You'll be an accomplished senior leader who thrives when navigating complex and multifaceted environments. You bring the credibility, judgement, and resilience needed to lead transformation at scale.

Your background includes:

  • Executive level leadership experience in large, highly complex, and public-facing organisations
  • Strong grounding in HR, people operations, and organisational transformation
  • Experience delivering multi-layered service models or shared service environments
  • Demonstrated success in complex payroll environments
  • Proven experience leading large functions through significant transformation
  • Skilled relationship builder who can credibly engage with multiple stakeholder groups, and unions
  • Sound commercial, financial, and political awareness
  • Health sector experience would be advantageous
