Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role

At Heritage Lifecare, we're dedicated to providing A Better Everyday for our residents, their whānau, and our people. We're one of New Zealand's leading aged care providers, committed to delivering respectful and caring services in safe, inclusive, and empowering environments.

As one of New Zealand's largest aged care providers, we care for more than 2,200 residents across our nationwide network, supported by 2,700 dedicated people who bring compassion and excellence to everything they do.

We're now looking for a People and Culture Advisor to join our supportive national P&C team and help us deliver trusted, high-quality people services across our care homes and villages.

What you'll do

In this varied and rewarding role, you'll work alongside our People and Culture Business Partners to provide professional HR advice, operational support, and guidance to our leaders and employees.

You'll help to ensure our people practices are consistent, compliant, and people-centred — supporting everything from recruitment and onboarding, to performance, engagement, and change.

Key focus areas include:

  • Providing accurate, timely HR advice and practical support to managers.
  • Coordinating recruitment and onboarding to attract and retain great talent.
  • Supporting policy implementation, workforce planning, and people initiatives.
  • Reviewing and improving P&C policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement projects that streamline processes and enhance the employee experience.
  • Building trusted relationships with leaders to enable great people outcomes.
  • Investigating and analyzing processes, procedures, and data to inform decision making and to assist with an eye for streamlining processes and providing continuous improvement.
  • Maintaining collateral and content to support people and culture processes and customer experiences.
  • Work closely with the P&C Hub and Business Partners to review areas for continuous improvement and support initiatives that have the customer at the centre of what we do.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that simplify processes and empower leaders.
  • Role-model values of compassion, integrity, accountability, teamwork, and excellence

He pūkenga tou | What you'll bring

You'll be a confident and proactive HR professional who enjoys partnering with leaders and getting involved in the detail of day-to-day people operations. You're curious, solutions-focused, and passionate about helping others succeed.

You'll also bring:

  • A sound understanding of NZ employment legislation and HR processes.
  • Experience supporting leaders in a fast-paced, multi-site or service-based environment.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • An eye for improvement — you love to make things simpler, clearer, and better.
  • A genuine commitment to Heritage Lifecare's values: People First, Nurture Success, Better Together.

At Heritage, you'll join a team that truly cares — about our residents, our people, and our future.

We offer:

  • A supportive, collaborative national People and Culture team.
  • Opportunities to grow and develop your HR career.
  • A values-led organisation where every day you can make a difference.
  • The chance to be part of a company that proudly supports Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and a diverse, inclusive workplace.
