Help lead transformative change for children and the team that makes it possible.
Save the Children:
Here in Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world, Save the Children creates irreversible positive change for and with children. Our vision is a world in which every child attains the right to survival, protection, development, and participation. We want to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and achieve lasting change in their lives. Find out more on our website.
About you:
You're a motivated, strategic fundraising leader who thrives on purpose, people, and possibility. You know how to grow revenue, nurture donors, and build strong teams and you understand the power of storytelling, data, and relationships in driving meaningful change.
You're energised by big goals and excited by innovation. You enjoy leading diverse teams, bringing out the best in others, and creating environments where people feel supported to grow and confident to try new things.
You're a natural collaborator who communicates with warmth and clarity, builds trust quickly, and loves working across an organisation to bring great ideas to life. Most importantly, you believe deeply in the impact that generosity can have on children's lives and you're committed to making that impact bigger every year.
About the role:
As our Head of Fundraising, you'll lead all private donor revenue-generating activities at Save the Children NZ. You will shape and deliver a bold, insight-led fundraising strategy that strengthens supporter relationships, grows income across all channels, and supports long-term sustainability.
You'll oversee Individual Giving, Legacy Giving, Philanthropy, Partnerships, and Community Fundraising, leading a talented team of six and working closely with colleagues across programmes, advocacy, marketing, finance, and supporter care.
Your leadership will directly influence how many children we can reach, how fast we can respond, and how boldly we can advocate for change. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape the future of fundraising at SCNZ.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Strategic Leadership: Lead and deliver SCNZ's fundraising strategy, setting ambitious revenue targets and driving organisational alignment.
- Donor Growth & Engagement: Strengthen the donor journey across acquisition, retention, stewardship, and re-engagement. Use insights and data to identify opportunities and lift donor lifetime value.
- Acquisition & Digital Innovation: Grow SCNZ's supporter base through strong digital acquisition, creative campaigns, and a test-and-learn approach.
- Legacy, Philanthropy & Partnerships: Expand income from major donors, mid-value supporters, legacies, trusts, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Supporter Care & Data Integration: Champion a donor-centric experience by ensuring seamless supporter care and high-quality data systems. Partner with Corporate Services & Risk to improve processes and reporting.
- Team Leadership & Performance: Lead, coach, and empower a high-performing team across all fundraising channels. Oversee budgets, forecasting, and performance measures to ensure strong return on investment.
Our ideal Head of Fundraising
You'll bring:
- Senior leadership experience in fundraising, ideally in the non-profit sector

- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children
