Head of People & Culture (Contract)

Auckland | Immediate start | 3–6 month contract |

A successful Financial Services business is looking for an experienced, values-led Head of People & Culture to join on a contract basis. This is a pivotal leadership role, partnering closely with the CEO, CFO and Senior Leadership Team to maintain momentum across people strategy, culture, and organisational health.

If you're a strategic, hands-on HR leader who brings both sharp commercial judgement and genuine care for people, we'd love to hear from you.

The opportunity

Reporting to the CFO and working as a trusted advisor to the CEO and SLT, you will lead the People & Culture function end-to-end. This includes strategic people leadership and culture initiatives, alongside leading and developing the Business & Operations Coordinator.

This is an immediate start role with a structured handover available. The initial contract is minimum 3 months, with a strong likelihood of extension to 6 months.

What we're looking for

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

  • 7–10+ years' senior People & Culture/HR leadership experience, operating strategically and operationally.
  • Strong HR generalist capability, including deep knowledge of NZ employment legislation and ER.
  • Proven success influencing at ELT and Board level.
  • High data literacy and comfort using insights to drive decisions.
  • A practical, calm, analytical style with the ability to ask the right questions.
  • Financial services experience is useful but not essential.
