Chief Advisor to The Chief Executive

Mō tēnei tūranga - about the role Reporting to the DCE Office of the Chief Executive, the Chief Advisor to the Chief Executive plays a critically important role for Fire and Emergency New Zealand. The Chief Advisor will be responsible for providing strategic and organisational advice and expertise and working with the Chief Executive on a broad range of services, including networking for both internal and external relationships and alerting the executive leadership team to opportunities and risk. The Chief Advisor will provide grounded and actionable advice based on measurable information to sharpen strategic focus and deliver meaningful changes. This will involve consolidating information into clear and concise reporting and creating strong relationships across the executive leadership team.Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga - What you'll bring to the role: To be successful in this position, the Chief Advisor will require excellent relationship management and incredible insight and judgement of complex information. They will bring a breadth of experience in the public sector or across relevant emergency management agencies. Diplomacy and political nous will be essential to providing high quality advice across the leadership team.To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will have:
- Skilled in navigating senior levels of organisational hierarchies, including Executive Leadership Teams (ELT) and Boards, adept at leveraging influence and negotiation to drive results in ever-changing environments.Good understanding of the Machinery of Government
- The ability to build relationships to develop and implement strategies and solutions to achieve desired organisational outcomes.
- Experience working with and drafting governance papers.
- A demonstrated track record as a strategic and innovative thinker and communicator.
- A high level of commercial and business acumen

The salary range for this role is $204,867 - $227,629 per annum dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.Ko wai mātou - who are we?
