Mō te tūnga | About the role
We have a number of exciting new opportunities to join the office of the Chief Executive as a Chief Executive Advisor and make an impact either on a temporary or permanent basis.
We have a new Chief Executive and Leadership team (Te Riu) with the direction of the organisation moving towards a locally led, regionally enabled and centrally supported model to support frontline kaimahi, tamariki and their whānau.
You will provide strategic advice within a portfolio whilst making the connections across the organisation and collaborating with your peers. This team has a central role in enhancing the seamlessness of our systems and mahi across the motu and enabling the Chief Executive and Te Riu to deliver on our future direction plan.
Oranga Tamariki has an ambitious transformation programme underway to help us achieve our fundamental goal of ensuring that all tamariki are in loving whānau and communities where oranga can be realised.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring
This position requires an excellent leader with strong, nuanced relationship management credentials with exposure to the Government Sector, ability to communicate with Senior Executives comprehensively and a strong knowledge and understanding of Cabinet and Ministerial processes and procedures would also add value.
**The capabilities and experience sought include**:
- Well developed analytical and critical thinking skills
- Highly capable of providing accurate and strategic advice;
- Ability to tailor your briefings to the audience; providing short and sharp briefings to senior officials that cover the key points;
- Knowledgeable in the workings of government with experience working with senior management teams and/or Ministers offices
- An understanding of the strategic issues facing Oranga Tamariki
- Calm professional demeanour especially when under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
