The Ministry of Education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join their procurement function as a Chief Advisor. In this role you will contribute thought leadership and expertise to shape strategies, work programmes and complex system issues, all in support of the ministry's purpose and agreed strategies.

As the Chief Advisor, you will
- Work closely with the Chief Procurement Officer, playing a pivotal role in implementing the strategic direction and context for the procurement group
- Ensure appropriate governance and risk management, collaborating across multiple different business units
- Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative and fit for purpose solutions and frameworks
- Represent the Chief Procurement Officer at internal and external meetings, as requested
- You will enhance the effectiveness and capability of the procurement function
- As the Chief Adviser you will act as the principal adviser to the leadership groups, driving greater efficiency and effectiveness through the procurement lens
- Develop & Ensure Social & Sustainable Outcomes are incorporated into The Ministry’s programmes of work

To be successful in this role, you will need
- Minimum of five years strategic experience in procurement assurance and transformation, with a proven ability to influence at a C-Suite level
- Demonstrated experience in driving organisational change aligned with a shared vision, resulting in intended outcomes
- Understanding of the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how these principles and te ao Māori worldviews applies within a procurement and commercial context.
- Sound political awareness and ability to navigate government processes and navigate ambiguity in a complex environment
- Well-developed analytical and conceptual thinking skills
