**To achieve this, Te Tari Pūreke delivers four core functions**: effectively implementing the firearms licensing systems; managing the Firearms Registry; educating people to enable compliance with their legislative responsibilities; and promoting the safe possession and use of legitimate firearms.

About the role
The Firearms Safety Co-ordinator is part of the Partnerships and Communities Directorate.
The Partnerships and Communities Directorate is a significant enabler to achieving firearms safety outcomes for New Zealand. We have a comprehensive network of strategic, central, and community-based relationships within our spectrum of engagement enabling individual and collective effort opportunities to be realised.
The Partnerships and Communities Directorate works across the regulator (Te Tari Pūreke), regulated parties (firearms licence holders), stakeholders, and communities to ensure we effectively understand risks and opportunities to improve firearms safety outcomes.
The Directorate develops and delivers training and community education initiatives. This is achieved through effective engagement, insights, and intelligence to prioritise and align engagement approaches and deliverables.
This role will be based at Rugby House in the Wellington CBD working a standard Monday to Friday schedule. The successful applicant will be required to work from the office each day managing staff schedules, coordinating deployment of staff with supervisors and managers, answering calls from firearms licence applicants and holders, problem solving, and using a variety of technology systems.
**Key Deliverables**:
Provide co-ordination and support on the day-to-day functions of the Partnerships Directorate.
High quality administration, logistics, fleet management and general support to delivery firearms safety courses and community engagement activities.
Support the delivery of effective regulatory services and outcomes that contribute to community’s safety.
Co-ordinate weekly and monthly reporting requirements.
Support engagement, firearms safe course deliver, education initiatives, and regulatory compliance activities.
Engage with public both over the phone and face to face.

We as the regulator, collaborate closely with both the Ministry of Justice and NZ Police. The Ministry of Justice is responsible for policy advice and system oversight and NZ Police is responsible for law enforcement function. Together we seek to continuously improve our approach across the firearm’s regulatory environment.

Special requirements
Previous experience in scheduling courses and movements would be an advantage.
Ability to juggle multiple tasks on a day-to-day basis.
Medium to advanced levels of skills and experience with a variety of technology systems.
This role is set at Individual Contributor level, this means your key purpose is “to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business.”

Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at (Band D to Step 0- 3) dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
