About the role
Our goal is for New Zealand to be a world leader in firearms safety. Towards this, the Arms safety and control group’s purpose is to be an effective leader in regulatory services and recognised as a centre of excellence for Arms Safety and Control activities. Arms staff contribute to Our Business by ensuring the safe use, possession and control of firearms.
The Group takes every opportunity to prevent harm through the transparent, consistent, timely and efficient administration, education and promotion of compliance with the provisions of the Arms Act. It earns trust and confidence by working together, in partnership with other Policing groups, the firearms community, wider New Zealand public and other agencies and organisations to achieve collective impact.
This role of the Firearms Safety Administrator is responsible for a wide variety of firearms related processes, including entering and maintaining licencing information in the national database (and other systems), undertaking permitting, endorsement and compliance activities, and completing other tasks and activities that contribute to high quality and effective administration of the Arms Act and Regulations.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Conducting compliance activities
- File preparation and updating case files
- Generate the system reports and statistical data
- Collaborating with Districts to support and improve processes
- Other administrative functions to support NZ Police in regulating the Arms Act
