Ko mātou tēnei | Who we are
Te Komihana Tauhokohoko | The Commerce Commission is Aotearoa New Zealand's competition, fair trading, consumer credit and economic regulatory agency. Our mission is to make New Zealanders better off by ensuring our markets work well and consumers and businesses are confident participants in those markets.
One of the main ways in which the Commission works towards this vision is by promoting competition between businesses so that consumers can benefit from a better selection of things to buy, including access to innovative products, and more competitive prices.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
We are looking for a Senior Communications Adviser to join our Communications & Engagement team - in either Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) or Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) - to provide strategic communications counsel, develop plans, and implement activity to support a growing body of work under legislation that helps to nurture competition in the economy.
You will be the trusted strategic business partner for our Competition Branch, providing high quality communications advice, support, and leadership to the teams you work with. You will also be part of a team of communications professionals who work across all aspects of the Commission's work.
The primary area of responsibility for this role is our work under the Commerce Act, which includes market studies - such as those completed in the grocery and fuel sectors, and the current study on residential building supplies - as well as enforcement and education in relation to competition law, including with regard to mergers and cartels.
The role will include all facets of external communications including strategic communications planning and delivery, media management, writing content for our website and social channels, and contributing to how we tell our story to a wide range of stakeholders, including bringing this work to life with our own team across the Commission.
