At Manatū Hauora - Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
The Organisational Development (OD) team is responsible for delivering a significant programme of work and the OD Manager will be responsible for ensuring the work programmes are delivered on time and to a high quality. The OD team is a high performing and well-regarded team, with excellent relationships across the Ministry. The team deliver a wide variety of work which includes, running engagement surveys, facilitating and managing multiple leadership development programmes, implementing wellbeing initiatives and developing cultural competency frameworks. The team are also responsible for the delivery of several key strategies including Kia Mau Rā | Retention Strategy, Workforce Strategy and Whiria te Tangata | Culture and Inclusion Strategy.
Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
As Manager you will lead your team in development and delivery of an ambitious work programme, focussing on culture, capability, and leadership across the Ministry. You will play a key part in the People and Capability leadership team, collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement new strategies and programmes of work to improve employee experience and engagement. As a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team and senior leaders, you will provide OD coaching, advice and support. We are looking for a high trust, empowering and collaborative people leader that finds joy in leading and watching their teams excel in their roles.
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring
- Qualification in Human Resources, Organisational Development or a related discipline
- Experience leading an OD/L&D team in a complex government organisation
- Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of OD initiatives that deliver high impact outcomes
- High trust, collaborative and empowering leadership style
- Humility, sound judgement and good intuition
- Smart and savvy communication with a natural ability to influence and engage across all levels within a diverse operating environment
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects on time and within budget
- Proven experience in establishing yourself as a trusted advisor, coach and facilitator at an Executive Leadership Team level
- Ability to identify organisational needs, risks and changes to build team and wider organisational capability to deliver desired outcomes.
