Description

Joining Vista's ICT team as an experienced System Administrator, you'll assist our team with the design, maintenance, upgrade and management of our systems, networks and infrastructure. Your focus will be to ensure that our technology runs smoothly and efficiently.

With a solid technical background and proven systems experience, you'll be using your strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. Resourcefulness is a core skill in this role.

Future opportunities for progression include system engineering / architecture and information / security management.

About the role

Install, configure and maintain software and hardware systems
Proactively manage networks, servers and technology tools
Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
Troubleshoot issues and outages
Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
Upgrade systems with new releases and models
Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative
Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies

**You'll also**:
Provide after-hours support for infrastructure related emergencies as well as occasional weekend maintenance
Interact with employees and customers at varying technical levels
Stay current with technological developments in systems administration technology, and recommend solutions for Vista to take advantage of new technology
Maintain inventory and asset configuration documentation

**Requirements**:
About you

This is not a junior level role so, you'll need proven experience, as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar, managing:
Microsoft Windows server environments including Active Directory
Virtualisation platforms (VMware & Hyper-V)
LAN, WAN, Firewall and VPN topologies and infrastructure
Server & storage hardware platforms
Cloud platforms (Azure/Office 365, AWS)

**You'll also have**:
Knowledge of system security, cryptography and data backup/recovery are important
Familiarity with deploying and managing various operating systems and platforms (Windows, Linux, MacOS, etc)
Ability to create, maintain scripts in PowerShell (other scripting languages beneficial)
Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
Excellent communication skills
BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline, and professional/industry certifications (e.g. Microsoft, VMware) are a plus
