**Workforce Planning Lead Fixed term role until October 2026**

The Electoral Commission is seeking a passionate and experienced Workforce Planning Lead to drive both operational and strategic workforce planning across our organisation. This is a new and exciting opportunity to help shape our electoral workforce and contribute to strengthening our democratic process.

You will develop and implement workforce planning frameworks and tools that ensure the Commission has the right people, in the right place, at the right time. You'll guide operational workforce planning for major electoral events and contribute to long-term workforce strategies that improve sustainability, efficiency, and equity in service delivery. Your insights will directly influence how we forecast, structure, and support our workforce across New Zealand.

**He aha t u e mahi ana | What you'll be doing**
- Lead the development and implementation of the Commission's workforce planning strategy.
- Develop and maintain workforce plans that support operational readiness and long-term organisational goals.
- Provide advice, insights, and reporting to senior leaders on workforce trends, capacity risks, and future needs.
- Collaborate with HR, operations, and other business units to forecast and model workforce demand and supply.
- Develop planning artefacts and tools (dashboards, scenario models, capacity forecasts) using appropriate tools.
- Contribute to the Commission's planning for the 2026 General Election and other key electoral events.

**Ko ng mea ka hiahiatia e koe kia angitu | What you'll need to succeed**
- Extensive experience in workforce planning, organisational planning, or human resource strategy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills - written, visual, and verbal - with a focus on simplicity and clarity.
- Proven experience working with cross-functional teams and engaging senior stakeholders.
- Experience in a public sector or large operational organisation is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the electoral process or operational readiness planning would be an advantage.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in workforce planning, HR, or a related field.
