Northpower is an electricity and fibre network provider for Whangarei and Kaipara, with more than 60,000 connected customers. We also provide contracting services to our partners - other network owners and operators across the North Island.

**The role**
Reporting to the Digital Platforms Team Lead, you’ll be providing technical systems expertise to the Enterprise Technology team and the rest of the Digital team and business. You will also:
- Provide Level 3 technical solutions and support, and assistance in the provision of Help Desk / Desktop Support service for the entire Northpower staff
- Manage and monitor all platforms / services across all OS for availability and performance
- Work with other team members to fulfil the ongoing maintenance schedule for all cloud, server, network, database and communications products
- Ensure effective security is in place to guard against fraudulent activity
- Ensure appropriate and effective monitoring systems are used to highlight current and upcoming issues to allow problems to be resolved in a timely manner
- Plan and design including, change control, Impact Analysis, Configuration maintenance & testing
- Support and administration of VMWare systems, Linux and all Microsoft back end and server products/tools
- Upgrade, configure and install user devices
As a Digital Systems Engineer, you will assist and backfill as required to support the database, network and communication systems. This role includes a component of rostered shift work and on-call services.**What’s in it for you**

**About you**
A highly responsive, customer focused attitude is the winning attribute along with an eagerness to identify solutions. You must be articulate and possess the skill to communicate effectively with staff at all levels within the business.
- We’re looking for the following technical skills:
- MCSA or equivalent industry certifications (MCSE preferred) with proven experience in a similar role
- Expert level knowledge of server administration, virtualised environments, communications systems, backup and replication technologies, monitoring systems, VMWare and the Microsoft back office enterprise suite of software
- Knowledge (expert-level) of cloud-based services with significant experience with Azure & O365
- Up to and including 3rd level support for Microsoft based PC and Server environments
- Proven experience with database, network and server monitoring tools
- Experience in UPS maintenance, Database administration, SQL knowledge and Network & Firewall administration is an advantage
To be successful in this role, you’ll also have:
- Ability to be well-organised and able to prioritise work to meet deadlines
- Highly developed documentation, report and work flow process writing skills, with the ability to adjust effectively for all audiences
- Ability to understand business fundamentals and implications of change
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills
