About the role
As the Plant 3 Production Manager you will report to the Manufacturing Manager and will be responsible for developing and maintaining a high performing Production Team and culture at Quality Bakers Auckland.
Establish and drive best manufacturing practice, provide key leadership on process efficiency/innovation, lead and execute change management activities to support ongoing continuous improvement, manage labour requirements to meet capacity planning, develop staff under their guidance and be responsible and accountable for waste and giveaway minimization, safety, high quality and cost-effective management of people, materials and packaging.
Regularly review the performance of lines with Team Leaders, take corrective actions and follow up with team members to ensure completion, provide accurate and timely information to management to enable quick resolution of issues and maintain high product standards through rigid enforcement of site guidelines.
**You will**:
- Manage people, plant and materials to ensure targeted efficiency levels are achieved (these measures include productivity, line utilisation/downtime, waste %/reduction target, OEE, quality, safety and DIFOT)
- Ensure all measurement systems are implemented and maintained as required
- Lead production lines working to capacity requirements and set timelines
- Ensure acceptable manufacturing standards are understood and maintained by all production staff
- Ensure all reporting requirements are supplied in an accurate and on-time manner
- Complete continuous improvement projects as agreed with the Manufacturing Manager
- Ensure the team is completely focused on producing safe and superior products for our customers
- Understand customer food safety standards and ensure compliance
- Support regular audits and ensure corrective actions are completed on time
- Ensure compliance with required Quality, GMP, Hygiene and Food Safety policies, standards and procedures
- Drive improvement projects to improve product quality, develop quality engagement and a culture of continuous improvement
- Be an advocate and champion for ‘Never Walk by' through own behaviours. Ensure team compliance to Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Safety Health and Environment procedures and legislative requirements
- Embrace methodologies to sustain behaviours and processes that support a safety culture of zero incidents
- Drive improvement projects to remove critical risks and ensure continual improvement in HSE
- Ensure all employees and contracted individuals are fully trained and adequately supervised
- Ensure leadership behaviours are consistent with the vision, goal and priorities with Goodman Fielder
- Coache direct reports, providing regular constructive feedback
- Oversees staff engagement improvement activity and encourages staff participation in such processes
- Maintain a focus on training and development
- Ensure the “team values” are followed at all times within the Operations Management team
- Manage absenteeism, overtime hours, leave balances and temporary labour usage to promote mental and physical wellbeing of all team members
- Establishes staff understanding of GFNZ policies and procedures and complete adherence to GFNZ principles at all times
To be successful in this role you will need
- Food Technology, Engineering or Science Degree (desirable)
- Level 4 Qualified Baker (desirable)
- 1+ years in Manufacturing Management
- 2+ years established leadership of a mid-sized team
- People management and leadership skills track record
- Proven quality assurance and food safety systems understanding
- Machine operation and/or engineering management practice
- Experience or participation in project management
- Planning, prioritisation and process management competence
- Organising competence
- SAP and computer navigation skill
