**Mo te tunga | About the role**
As a Senior Research Adviser, you'll lead research and evaluation projects that play a key role in shaping policy development and improving service delivery. You will ensure that data collection, analysis, and reporting are of the highest quality, helping to drive the Department's core objectives of reducing reoffending, improving public safety, and addressing Maori over-representation.
You will design and deliver projects, while also providing advice to both internal teams and external stakeholders. You will be expected to undertake fieldwork, conducting interviews with frontline staff and people managed by Corrections. This will require strong relationship building and interpersonal skills, and experience undertaking research with Maori and Pacific peoples.
Part of your role will include managing research contracts, making sure everything stays on track, and guiding external contractors when needed. You need to be able to analyse data and prepare research reports that will be shared with both internal teams and external audiences. You will bring qualitative and quantitative research skills to this role.
This is a permanent position, based in Wellington at our National Office. A current New Zealand Driver's Licence is essential as there will be travel around New Zealand.
**Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience**
You will need to have:
- Experience designing and leading projects, preferably research projects or projects which involve some elements of research, within the government sector.
- Knowledge of New Zealand's Corrections and criminal justice system.
- High level written and oral communication skills, with experience of presenting research results to diverse audiences.
- Experience working with qualitative and quantitative data.
- Experience undertaking research with Maori, and an understanding of Kaupapa Maori research methodologies.
**Utu a-tau | Salary**
The midpoint of the salary range is $119,013 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $101,162 - $142,816 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
