Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
As Group Manager Performance and Planning, you will support the Te Aka Whai Ora Board, Chief Executive, Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to develop Te Aka Whai Ora organisational strategy, undertake business planning and reporting, provides strategic performance advice and assurance and so that ELT can effectively govern the execution of the organisation's strategic intentions and performance expectations.
The role is responsible for the leadership, direction and delivery of Te Aka Whai Ora accountability documents, planning and performance and oversees the delivery of strategic planning, reporting and review requirements.
Te whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity
Te Aka Whai Ora is a recently established independent statutory entity responsible for enabling Māori to shape health outcomes for Māori, and to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi with joint accountabilities to the Crown and Māori. Te Aka Whai Ora is the primary source of strategy and policy for Hauora Māori, leading the identification and monitoring of equitable health outcomes, development of the Māori health workforce, and the direct commissioning of mātauranga Māori and taurite services. Our whāinga is to achieve greater Māori participation in the design and delivery of health services for the betterment of all. This will be achieved by embedding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi as central components of Aotearoa New Zealand's health reform. We play a critical role in enhancing rangatiratanga, ensuring equitable access to healthcare and supporting whānau to take control of their own health and wellbeing. We work in close partnership with Manatū Hauora and Te Whatu Ora and enable Iwi Māori Partnerships Boards (IMPBs), Māori health providers, iwi, hapū and Māori communities to achieve Māori health aspirations.
As Group Manager Performance and Planning you will lead a small team within Governance and Advisory directorate, who are responsible for the leadership, direction and delivery of Te Aka Whai Ora accountability documents, planning, performance and oversees the delivery of strategic planning, reporting and review requirements.

**Qualifications**:
- A relevant tertiary qualification is essential in a relevant specialist field AND experience in a senior public sector role in a performance and planning and/or monitoring and evaluation setting
Experience
- Recognised credibility in strategy and/or performance within the public or private sector(s)
- Significant experience in and strong knowledge of Government accountability processes
- Strong understanding of machinery of government and central government processes.
- Ensure that Te Aka Whai Ora internal performance is measured and evaluated in a way that drives continuous improvement against relevant established benchmarks.
- Experience working with and understanding executive leaders' interest and issues
- Proven ability to manage key relationships at a senior executive level and cross-agency
- Proven analytical and writing skills
- Strong project management skills
- Flexibility and an ability work autonomously to make decisions

- Highly effective communication skills - able to communicate concisely and clearly, able to adapt style to meet the needs of the audience
