**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
The Manager, Set Up Operations will lead and deliver the multi-faceted Setup Operations delivery team across Tātaki Auckland Unlimited venues, focusing on delivering exceptional and best practice experiences for our clients and customers.
This role will support the customer and client event planning and delivery experience across all event types from theatre, concerts to multi day business events, exhibitions, and conventions, and also provide support to Front of House operations, and Food and Beverage to support the overall delivery of events for Tātaki Auckland Unlimited.
The Manager, Setup Operations will contribute, audit, identify, implement, and support the recruitment, training, and development needs of the Setup Operations team, and provide leadership and mentoring to the Team Leaders who are people leaders within the Setup Operations Department.
They will improve staff performance, event procedures and work collaboratively with all departments and suppliers to deliver an efficient and safe operation throughout all Tātaki Auckland Unlimited venues and precincts.
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
Our ideal applicant will bring demonstrated management ability in substantial events or related service industry organisations. You will have 5+ years' relevant experience leading event operations in a large multidisciplinary and complex organisation; and bring a thorough knowledge in specialist areas in venue management, Setup Operations, event delivery including F&B and catering. You will possess a strong commercial focus and experience of supplier negotiation and cost control.
You will have a good understanding of the functions of local government, including current and future business drivers and statutory requirements, and the ability to build trust and strong partnerships and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, often with different agendas. You will also have strong business and financial acumen along with political acumen and sensitivity, with a flexible, adaptable, and pragmatic approach.
You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong communication and relationship building skills and be customer service and visitor experience focused. You will show demonstrated leadership skills and have experience in training and development of staff. You support and promote the development of staff understanding and capability in te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, te ao Māori and te Tiriti o Waitangi and understand, demonstrate, and value the use of tikanga where appropriate.
As this role is centred around event setup and delivery, our ideal applicant comes with a demonstrated career working in industry to variable rosters, so working weekends, evenings, early mornings and public holidays won't be unfamiliar to you.
