Ngā kawenga | About the role
The Southern Region People Services Team play a pivotal role in the ongoing delivery of high-quality human resources (HR) processes, policy, strategies and services that contribute to the successful achievement of the Department's strategy, Hōkai Rangi.
We work in a highly unionised environment, and our Senior People Advisers work on complex cases. This role will really expand your own Employment Relations (ER) toolkit, and/or allow you an opportunity to further develop essential skills.

**Some of the key responsibilities of the role are**:

- Partner with our leaders to provide timely, grounded professional advice to them, evaluating current state and appropriate recommendations
- Identify and access opportunities to foster an environment and culture where people development is a priority
- Coach and assist leaders with disciplinary and ER matters and work alongside our union partners
- Provide solutions to complex ER matters
- Build strong relationships across the organisation.

He kōrero mōu | About you

**To be successful in this role, you will ideally have**:

- Proven pragmatic, hands on HR experience, in a fast-paced environment
- Highly developed relationship building and coaching skills, with the ability to build rapport with managers across all levels of the organisation
- An exceptional customer service ethic
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a unionised environment
- Sound knowledge of relevant and current NZ employment legislation and HR best practice
- Flexibility for some travel may be required, as is a full clean driver's licence.

Whilst all the above are important, your ability to work at pace and thrive in an environment that is both complex and varied is essential. The old adage “no two days are ever the same” is really brought to life here, so it is crucial that you are a team player who will happily support your peers whilst sharing and collaborating on the mahi we do. This is very much a one team culture and a sense of humour and the ability to not take yourself too seriously would stand you in good stead.
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid point of the salary range is $108,180 pro rata and the full range (85%-120%) is $91,953 - $129,816 pro rata. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
