**About the role**

An exciting opportunity has arisen based in Devonport within the Navy Dockyard to fulfil and embed a new Assistant Production Manager (Electrical) role. The role reports to the Production Manager (Technical) and will play a critical role in leading a production team of support engineers, estimator(s), and Unit Leaders to plan and deliver activities in the marine (military) electrical environment safely to time, cost, and quality.

This is a newly created role as a result of an organisational restructure which aims to consolidate all of the electrical operations into one area. This will encompass all aspects of electrical work from Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) of existing equipment to the installation of ‘state of the art’ military communications systems.

This new role is designed to meet the customers (NZ Defence Force) future demand schedule, budget, and quality expectations, with key responsibilities for the following:

- **Delivery Management**:Effective and safe delivery of production activities to time, budget and quality. Management of subcontractors to meet the capacity and capability demands.
- **Technical Proficiency**: Understanding of a range of electrical disciplines to be able to liaise with, and direct support engineers and Unit Leads to meet delivery objectives both from internal team members and subcontractors.
- **Team Leadership**:Manage individual performance across the team, promoting and encouraging professional development. Set and deliver team objectives in line with the company’s direction, while demonstrating leadership qualities across the wider business.
- **Continuous Improvement**: Identify, develop and lead improvement opportunities including coaching and developing change management competencies within the team

**About you**

You have a relevant qualification(s) in the electrical industry along with previous experience in delivering in a production line or industrial workshop environment. You will understand budget management and schedules and will have a proven track record of managing an industrial site safely.

You are an inherent team leader, effective communicator and coach with solid MS Office skills. If you have worked in a marine or military environment previously, this would be highly advantageous but not essential.
