**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The Health Analytics business unit provides health analytics and insights which support planning and delivery of better, more equitable health services.
In this role, your primary purpose will be to lead the extraction, collation and distribution of data, insights, and information across Health New Zealand, primarily using national datasets, to support all Health NZ directorates, especially Hospital & Specialist Services, Commissioning, and wider stakeholders including Parliament, the Ministry of Health and media.
This role will also see you liaising and partnering with stakeholders across the organisation, and using these relationships to gain an understanding of business and reporting requirements.
**To be successful in this role you must either currently be living in the Te Manawa Taki region, or be willing to relocate.**
**Mōu | About you**
You will be a significantly experienced Principal Data Analyst with a background or interest in health data, or experience working across a large organisation.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A relevant tertiary qualification e.g. business analysis, business insights, data science, statistics
- An excellent understanding of the fundamentals of analytics and how the discipline is used to create business and customer value
- A minimum 15 years' experience in Intelligence analyst roles, within large organisations across the public or private sector
- Expert knowledge of appropriate visualisation tools and data techniques to elicit high quality insights, create and validate dashboards (e.g. requirements gathering, data cleansing, development of insights and process mapping)
- Extensive knowledge of the Health Sector and government
- Excellent mentoring and training skills
- Strong communication skills with the confidence and ability to present and defend decisions in a manner appropriate to the needs of the audience.
