**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and Hauora Maori Service colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

The Principal Service Development Manager is a member of the Mentally Well team tasked with supporting, in partnership with the Hauora Maori Services, the development and implementation of new models of service delivery and agreements to improve their life course area and radically improve Māori Health and eliminate inequities. The Principal Service Development Manager has strong relationship management and influence skills and negotiates & manages contracts through strong provider and sector relationships.

**This role is based in the Te Manawa Taki Region made up of Waikato, Lakes, Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti and Taranaki. You will need to be based in the region. Your location can be discussed at interview stage.**

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā weako | Skills and experience**
- A relevant tertiary or professional qualification.
- Needs to draw on commissioning experience in varied environments, stretching over 10 years including:

- Demonstrated experience at a senior level leading the development and delivery of service and investment strategies and initiatives, including the full commissioning of services within the specific life course area.
- Demonstrated experience in health service funding with procurement and provider management oversight at a senior level.
- Demonstrated experience in leading service design.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of high quality and timely investment planning strategies and initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups and at a senior level.
- Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and anticipate the impact of decisions on long-term outcomes, including financial outcomes, and to develop/recommend responses in consultation with key stakeholders.
- The ability to communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication to a range of audiences including senior management, Board and Ministers.
- Experience navigating and operating within the machinery of government or in a regulated environment.
