The Communications & Media Manager is responsible for leading the Communications team and function at Taranaki DHB. This position is responsible for developing communications plans and strategies to help improve the DHBs’ image and to help meet the DHBs’ broader objectives.

The position is also responsible for media liaison and media advice to DHB staff; liaises with senior managers, clinicians and external stakeholders to ensure they are informed of potential media requirements; managing the various media and online channels and providing specialised advice on how best to represent the DHB to the media and to the public.

You will have demonstrated a high level of relationship management ability and strategic support that has achieved organisational goals and objectives.

The successful person will have the opportunity to:

- Lead and promote communications innovation
- Manage the interests of a wide range of stakeholders, negotiate positive outcomes
- Prepare media and stakeholder engagement plans and provide trusted media and PR advice to board members

Key areas of accountability include:

- Lead and manage Taranaki DHB’s Communications team, framework and function
- Demonstrate high level relationship management skills that foster trust and cooperation
- Proven ability to work effectively and with integrity in a politically sensitive environment
- Manage and maintain the organisations PR strategy that takes a proactive, ‘no surprises’ approach to media and social media management
- Involvement in Emergency Management for Taranaki DHB
- Be responsible for the DHB’s various internal and external communication channels to keep all stakeholders engaged
