**Job Description**:
**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
We are seeking an individual with a strong background in student support and engagement to join our team in the Faculty of Science. Based in an open plan environment, this role is focused on developing a positive experience for students joining the Faculty as part of articulation agreements with partner Universities overseas. A key focus of the role is connecting students to the University’s existing suite of events and services, and encouraging students to develop connections inside and outside the University community that support their academic and personal success. The role is also responsible for ensuring students have a smooth transition to life at the University and engage inside and outside the classroom.
Your strong interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, outstanding organisational abilities, and your friendly and engaging manner, will be a key factor in the success of this role.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Creating, implementing and reviewing engagement plans for students
- Designing and delivering Orientation programmes that sync with University and Faculty Orientation activities.
- Develop and maintain a close working relationship with central support functions in order to support students
- Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills through relationship management, advocacy and negotiation
- Work collaboratively toward continuous improvement both operationally and strategically
- Ensure actions support delivery of the service promised and at all times demonstrate excellent customer service
- Develop and implement new ideas for improving the experience of these students
This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week), permanent position.
Remuneration: $54,700 - $68,200 dependent on experience

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills including experience with a range of traditional and social media, will be friendly and engaging, have a solid administrative background and experience providing first-class customer service.
**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
- Experience in the delivery of events
- Knowledge of the tertiary education sector
- Experience in developing innovative and engaging programmes and initiatives in a tertiary or similar environment
- Problem solving ability requiring judgement and interpretation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working in an environment requiring high levels of customer service delivery
- Experience and understanding of equity issues in New Zealand
- Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
