Otago is famous for its residential college communities supporting thousands of mostly first-year students as they begin their tertiary journey. We are seeking one Assistant Warden for a live-in position at University College.
**_University College/ Te Kāreti o te Whare Wānaka_**
University College (UniCol) is a large, vibrant, diverse community of 435 students and a dedicated staff team, a true home away from home where your contribution will be valued.
UniCol provides a fantastic living-learning experience bringing together student support, academic programmes, recreation and social activities. Sport, music, art, drama, volunteering and much more are found in abundance at UniCol.
The role / Te mahi
Tautiaki-Kaiāwhina (Assistant Wardens) are key members of the College pastoral and welfare team. With a focus on wellbeing / oraka, they provide culturally appropriate opportunities for residents to experience cultural, sporting, academic and personal development in a positive college environment.
**_ Skills and experience / Kā pūkeka me kā wheako_**
- Experience working with young adults in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in emergency or crisis situations.
- Skills and experience in administration and organisation of varied student-focussed events and activities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to achieve a range of tasks under competing demands, within agreed timeframes.
- Experience and skill in delivering pastoral care and support to tertiary-age students would be a distinct advantage.

This role is permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week), and requires regular rostered evening and weekend hours of work and a high level of commitment.
These roles include being rostered on-call. Accommodation is provided within the College and consists of a one bedroom self-contained flat on the south ground floor. The total remuneration package includes full compensation for all accommodation costs.
