Each and every day staff, students and the general public benefit directly and indirectly from the dedicated efforts of Property Services Division employees. We are the physical foundation of the teaching, research and learning that takes place at the University, and we are proud of the important role we play.
The Division is responsible for buildings with a replacement cost of NZ$2.5 billion, and more than 22,000 hectares of land. With over 3,500 University Staff and 20,000 students, it is a bit like helping to run a small town.
**_The role/Te mahi_**
This is an opportunity for you to join the University of Otago Trades team in our Transport and Logistics Unit, providing a comprehensive range of transport services across our wide-reaching campus in Dunedin. Our Transport team assist with and manage services Including:
- Office relocations.
- Delivery and removal of furniture for reuse or sale to the University Recycle Centre.
- Collection, sorting, and delivery of e-waste and scrap metal.
- Delivery of new furniture.
- Hazardous materials transportation (e.g., liquid nitrogen).
- Fitting of joinery units (e.g., bookcases, whiteboards, and pin boards).
- General transportation requests from departments campus wide.
- Removal and shifting of general cartage for the Halls of Residence.
- Setup for University exams, graduations, enrolments, and course approval.
While this position initially supports our Transport & Logistics team, due to the nature of Trade Services you may be moved around and utilised in another area.

**_Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako_**
- Physically fit and able to complete manual work.
- Co-operative and have a positive attitude to work.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience in health and safety best practice.
- Self-motivated, energetic and organised.
- Adequate ability in computer skills for uploading and communicating data information onto company supplied software systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of effective risk management as applies to the role.
- A full Driver’s license -Class 1 (Class 2 desirable).
- Dangerous Goods Manual Handling Certificate (Desirable)
- Fire Warden Certification (training provided).
- Current First Aide Certification (training provided).
This position requires a person who can work under minimum supervision with good communication skills and a courteous nature as much of the work involves dealing with a variety of people around the University.
