**About The Role**:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager Science & Technology to lead a team of 24 knowledgeable and dedicated professionals who have a lot of potential and a great culture. As a member of the environment quality management team, reporting directly to the Director Environment Quality, you will be focused on:
- Providing strong team leadership, coaching & development, continuing to foster the positive environment;
- Leading Council’s science programmes and policies to a level of high professional standard & providing support to the team to achieve the levels of service set out in the Long-Term Plan;
- Providing guidance to resource users and the public on matters of environmental management;
- Monitoring programme design and development for resource consent and other resource management activities;
- The preparation of annual work programmes, financial plans and budgets;
- Servicing Council committees, information requests and working closely with local iwi and hapū.
**Skills & Experience**:
- Proven leadership experience with success in building a positive team culture, coaching 1-1, conveying the vision and a clear team purpose;
- A post graduate qualification in a field that is relevant to the specialisation of this role;
- A good level of political savvy and proven record of performance in community engagement, with excellent communication skills and ability to develop rapport with a wide range of stakeholders;
- A sound knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 and other applicable legislation;

Our main office is based right in the centre of the region, under the Maunga (mountain), in Whakaahurangi (Stratford).
We have 3 beautiful gardens: Pukeiti, Tūpare and Hollard Gardens. Many of our staff work on a daily basis around the region and we are a 35-minute commute from New Plymouth. This region allows you to have all the big city benefits whilst maintaining a rural lifestyle given the relatively quick ability to travel between our towns and the city.
