Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Our new System Performance team will sit within the Health Analytics group in the Service Improvement and Innovation directorate. You will lead a team providing health analytics and insights in response to questions from parliament, media, and the public, as well as supporting the planning and delivery of better, more equitable health services. You will contribute to increasing public trust in our national health service through providing reliable and meaningful information and insights.
The team will be responsible for the extraction, collation and distribution of data primarily using national data sets, interpreting, and drawing insights from that data.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing coaching and mentoring to your team, streamlining, and automating processes wherever possible to ensure that the delivery of analytics is efficient and of high quality. You will collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including Ministerial staff, Executive Leadership Team members, as well as other analysts, technical experts, and colleagues from within Te Whatu Ora, Te Aka Whai Ora, Manatu Hauora, and other Government organisations.

You will bring your extensive knowledge of health service data, preferably national collections, and have an ability to work successfully across the organisation with a range of partners and stakeholders. You will have insight into and may have worked previously within hospital and specialist services, in particular mental health, planned care, and acute care programmes.
You will be an experienced people leader, with outstanding written and oral communication skills, and an ability to synthesise complex data into succinct and understandable information.

- Experience in leading work programmes, mentoring and coaching staff
- Familiarity with healthcare-specific data sources, standards/specifications, and regulations
- Leadership experience and proven facilitation skills
Ko te mahi e tika ana mō te ao hurihuri nei | Work that suits today's ever-changing world
Te Whatu Ora supports flexible and hybrid working for our kaimahi. In roles that don't require an in-person element, we encourage you to ‘work from where you are' but require some in-person meetings. We want our national teams to be made up of diverse people from across the motu, just like our health system.
Nau mai, uru mai | Come and join us
When you join us, you become part of transforming the health system. This is a once in a life-time change, that will touch the lives of everyone in Aotearoa, and future generations.
Our name, Te Whatu Ora, means ‘the weaving of wellness'. Whatu is the combining together of people, resources, organisations, thoughts and actions for the betterment and wellbeing of all. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system.
We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Māori and ensures greater access, experience and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system - Māori, Pacific and Disabled People.
