Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Our new System Performance team will sit within the Health Analytics group in the Service Improvement and Innovation directorate. You will work in a small team providing health analytics and insights in response to parliamentary, media and public questions, as well analyses supporting the planning and delivery of better, more equitable health services. This team will provide rapid responses to urgent queries, using in-depth knowledge over a broad range of data sources, as well as provide routine analyses and dashboards for health service performance monitoring and planning. You will contribute to increasing public trust in our national health service through providing reliable and meaningful information and insights.
The team will be responsible for the extraction, collation and distribution of data primarily using national data sets, interpreting, and drawing insights from that data.
In this role, you will be providing analysis and reporting, streamlining, and automating processes wherever possible to ensure that your output is efficient and of high quality. You will support principal and senior analysts and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including health service managers, analysts, technical experts, and other colleagues from across Te Whatu Ora, Te Aka Whai Ora, Manatu Hauora, and other Government organisations.
Mōu | About you
You will have experience delivering high quality analysis and reporting within a service industry, preferably healthcare. Your technical skills will include at least intermediate T-SQL programming, excellent Excel skills and experience with BI tools and statistical packages such as R. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and have a commitment to developing your analytical skills and health data knowledge.
Preferably, you will have knowledge of health service data, including national collections, and have a willingness to work across the organisation with a range of partners and stakeholders.

- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- A relevant graduate qualification, or equivalent professional experience
- In-depth knowledge of health service datasets, especially national collections
- Significant experience in data extraction, data modelling, and reporting (SQL, Qlik Sense, Snowflake preferred)
- Experience in leading work programmes, mentoring and coaching staff
- Familiarity with healthcare-specific data sources, standards/specifications, and regulations
