Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

**About us**

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is an independent Crown entity that regulates the electricity market. We are a kaitiaki of electricity, and our purpose is to enhance New Zealanders' lives, prosperity, and environment through electricity.

The electricity industry is at a pivotal moment, with the journey towards renewable energy sources and innovation reshaping how we operate. To meet these challenges and opportunities, we're evolving as an organisation - growing our capabilities, expanding our reach, and building a team ready to create a brighter, more sustainable future for Aotearoa. Our focus is on making a difference through bold thinking, collaboration, and delivering value for the communities we serve.

**About the role**

We are looking for a Senior Official Information Act (OIA) and Ministerial Advisor to join our established and supportive Legal, Monitoring and Compliance team. In this senior role, you will be working across the organisation to prepare high-quality, timely responses to ministerial correspondence, OIA and Parliamentary Questions. The role maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Authority and government, including the Office of the Minister of Energy and Resources.

**Key responsibilities**

As Senior OIA and Ministerial Advisor, you'll lead the preparation of timely, high-quality responses to Official Information Act requests, ministerial correspondence, and parliamentary questions. You'll provide trusted advice across the organisation on privacy, legal risk, and public sector transparency.

You'll work closely with the Minister's office and other government agencies to ensure clear, consistent communication. Internally, you'll help strengthen our systems and processes, support training on OIA obligations, and contribute to briefings and reports for senior leaders. Your work will help drive continuous improvement and build capability across the Authority.

**What we're looking for?**

**You'll thrive in this role, if you have the following**:

- Five plus years' experience working with the OIA in a public sector setting
- Strong understanding of public sector transparency and accountability
- Legal or policy expertise, with sound judgement on complex or sensitive issues
- Experience in the machinery of government and working with Ministers' offices and government agencies
- Experience working across an organisation with people at all levels - from advisors to senior executives
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all levels
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and attention to detail

**Why work for us?**

Electricity plays a critical role in the quality of our lives and businesses. As an electricity kaitiaki our work is diverse, intellectually challenging and contributes directly to our communities, economy, environment, and the nation as a whole. We are a small but high-impact organisation where talented individuals can make a real difference. We foster an open, collaborative environment that encourages quality, innovation, ongoing learning, and knowledge sharing.

We support a healthy work-life balance and offer a range of benefits to support our teams.
- Competitive remuneration range, starting at $128,155 (plus 3% net KiwiSaver contribution)
- Flexible working options
- Individual and organisational support for training and development
- A strong focus on health and wellbeing, including allowances, Habit Health+ EAP for you and your whanau, and regular team events
