**About us**

The New Zealand government uses regulation to protect communities from harm, and to improve outcomes for its people. Our job is to help improve the overall quality of regulation - and the way it is implemented - by working across the public service with experts in their fields.

The Ministry for Regulation is a newly established small government agency with a big job to do. We are a small group of dedicated professionals, working in a 'can do' environment.

**About the Role**

The Ministry has a rare opportunity to provide advice on how to significantly strengthen New Zealand's regulatory management system, and what the role of the Ministry and other agencies should be in contributing to that system into the future.

The Senior Advisor in the Ministerial Services team will deliver high-quality official correspondence services, this will include ministerial correspondence, OIA requests and providing expert advice ensure effective communication and decision making within the Ministry. This is also a great opportunity to mentor and coach junior team members; no two days will be the same as you will cover a diverse and full range of tasks and activities.

This role is banded from $108,126 - $143,618 dependent on skill set and experience.

**About you**

We are looking for someone who has:

- Strong understanding of the machinery of government and processes
- Excellent knowledge of the Official Information Act and drafting responses to complex requests
- Experience working in the public service alongside or in a Minister’s Office
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship management and collaboration skills
- A high level of political awareness and sound judgement
- A proactive and continuous improvement mindset
