As New Zealand's conduct regulator for the finance sector, the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) promotes and facilitates the development of fair, efficient, and transparent financial markets. Our purpose is to foster the fairest financial sector in the world.
This is your opportunity to make a significant impact on the detection and deterrence of money laundering and terrorism financing in New Zealand, contributing to public confidence in our financial system.
**He angitūtanga**: The opportunity
At the FMA, we are committed to a risk-based approach in countering money laundering and terrorist financing. This means we allocate our resources and efforts to the areas where we perceive the greatest threat and strive to stay one step ahead of criminals who are increasingly flexible and innovative in their efforts to launder money and attempt to avoid detection.
The purpose of this position is to monitor and supervise reporting entities' compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Act 2009, as well as being mindful of the other key pieces of legislation that the FMA has responsibility for. You will be responsible for supporting the FMA's agenda as a risk based and intelligence-led regulator through the provision of sound technical and operational advice specific to AML/CFT.
This role can be based at either our Auckland or Wellington CBD offices.
**He kōrero mōu**: About you
To be successful in this role, you will have experience, knowledge and understanding of AML/CFT, governance, risk, audit and compliance assurance, surveillance and compliance monitoring systems, strategies, policies, and processes. Knowledge and/or understanding of our financial market participants is helpful, and experience working in regulation or with regulatory requirements is preferred.
You will need strong self-management skills, with sound social judgement, mature and professional conduct, well rounded planning and organisation skills and the ability to form positive, constructive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou**: What we offer
You'll have the benefit of working in an organisation that is hard working, fast paced and committed, while also enjoying the social and flexible environment that we've created for individuals and teams to thrive. Our focus on learning and development, quality coaching and career opportunities will see your potential being realised and efforts truly valued.
