**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under te Tiriti o Waitangi | the Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.
We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.
The Clinical Advisor, Oral Health provides clinical advice and leadership to the Young People Group in the Starting Well Directorate, National Design Team
The Young People Group:
- Oversees the national system design, service planning and provider procurement for oral health, youth health, and rainbow health
- Leads, designs, and implements national system and service re-design solutions in partnership with Te Aka Whai Ora to radically improve Māori Health and eliminate inequities
- Builds system capability to authentically engage and involve Māori in service design and whānau centred approaches.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā weako | Skills and experience**
- Demonstrable experience in providing clinical governance and clinical advice into key system and service design.
- Demonstrated experience in providing clinical governance across clinical services.
- Recognised as a senior clinical advisor.
- Demonstrated experience at a leadership level for developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across clinicians, wider sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples.
- The ability to compellingly communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication to a range of audiences including senior management, Board and Ministers.
- The ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships at a senior level.
