The National Emergency Management Agency ("NEMA") is looking to appoint a Chief Advisor Māori/ Pou Whakahaere to ensure a Te Ao Māori view is represented and intertwined in the highest level of decision-making. The Chief Advisor Māori/ Pou Whakahaere will be a competent leader in both worlds (Te Ao Māori and Te Ao hurihuri-contemporary Māori leadership). As part of the ELT, they will bring an inclusive leadership approach which is challenging, and solutions oriented from a Te Ao Māori perspective i.e use of tikanga processes to resolve conflict. The successful applicant will have competence and confidence in Tikanga Māori, Te Reo Māori and Te Ao Māori, and have authentic relationship management skills and experience of working with whanau, hapu, iwi to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role Where the Chief Advisor Māori/ Pou Whakahaere will add the most value to the organisation will include the following key areas: - Provide strategic advice on Te Tiriti o Waitangi / the Treaty of Waitangi - Lead on strategic matters relating to the execution of Te Kāhui Mataara, the organisation's Māori strategy and work programme. - Facilitate and support the development of a strategic approach to effective engagement and partnership with iwi to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. - Supporting the NEMA ELT and wider NEMA whanau with increasing cultural knowledge and capability.
