This position sits within our Māori, Partnerships and Communities (MPC) group. MPC has a regional presence throughout New Zealand, and we work with iwi/Māori building strategic partnerships for future endeavours.
MPC is responsible for leading our approach for engaging with partners and communities to co-design new and innovative partnerships and services with Iwi, Māori organisations, NGOs and other partners. MPC ensures the voices of tamariki, rangatahi and whānau are used to influence strategy, policy, practice, and operations across the organisation, so that their needs and aspirations are met.

Mō te tūnga | About the role
The purpose of this role is to partner with, and engage effectively across Oranga Tamariki, its providers, partners, and other key stakeholders; proactively identifying and promoting opportunities to drive performance and efficiencies.
This role is accountable for the quality of contract documentation, development, plans and processes. The position ensures and provides assurance that Oranga Tamariki is procuring in accordance with our obligations under Section 7AA of the Oranga Tamariki Act as well as the across Government Contracting and Contract Management Rules and Principles.
The role must ensure sound and insightful analysis to develop and maintain contracting policies, plans, and management practices, whilst providing leadership and management to the contracting team.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

**Key requirements of the role include**:

- A relevant tertiary qualification or relevant experience is essential
- Comprehensive experience in a social service contracting environment
- Demonstrated people management experience in leading high performing teams
- Extensive experience in providing advice and support to Senior Management within the Public Sector
- Previous experience working with contract regulations and related laws, and a solid understanding of legal terminology
- Knowledge about the support and implementation of cross-agency approaches
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills that will enable effective participation in and leadership of teams
- Strong analytical skills and innovative thinking to anticipate and resolve problems and make decisions based on sound risk management analysis
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
