Auckland Council’s Mayoral Office has an opportunity for the Chief of Staff. This role will report directly to the Mayor.

Supporting the development and delivery of the Mayor’s priorities, the role is dynamic and no day will be the same. The Chief of Staff is instrumental to ensuring the Mayoral office develops and implements effective strategies to identify and address any political, media or cross Council group issues on behalf of the Mayor.

You will lead the Mayoral Office through the provision of strategic leadership, professional advisory, strong relationship management, and proactive issues management, enabling Mayoral priorities and business objectives to be successfully achieved.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

This role requires strong knowledge in government and public services. You will likely have experience in senior leadership roles from within complex organisations.

We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:

- Significant experience working in large, highly complex environments with a strong knowledge of local government
- A high level of political and policy acumen
- Strong negotiation skills across complex issues and with multiple parties
- A tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline
- Proven ability to develop strong and trusted relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to build and lead a team to success
