**The Role**

The main purpose of this role is to coordinate health and safety programmes and to provide direction, advice and support on health and safety issues, while making sure that the policies and procedures are adhered to. Please note that this role will include office and site-based work.

We are looking for somebody who can 'coach', rather than 'tell' when it comes to working with our people on safety.

**What you will be doing?**
- No two days will be the same. You will be in the office one day out on the network the next.
- You will provide support in implementing and maintaining the organisation's safety policies and programs.
- Coordinate, deliver, and maintain records on safety training to promote an accident-free workplace.
- Conduct plant audits and implements safety policies and programs to maintain compliance to NZ legislation.
- Prepare, generate and maintain safety documentation, queries and reports for internal and external customers, including regulatory authorities.
- Maintain database of all recordable incidents, near-misses, and relevant investigations.
- Track progress on action items generated from incident investigations and safety audits.

**About You**
- Experience in Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental regulations
- In-depth understanding and knowledge of safety in construction
- Excellent investigative and reporting skills, working to ensure all investigations, documentation, and reporting is completed to a high standard.
- Experience in providing training and development opportunities within a large, multi-site organisation
- Ability to champion safety related initiatives and programmes on the project. Being visible out in the field with our crews is an important part of this role.
- Diploma in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- 2-4 years job specific work experience within the functional area.
- Must have completed safety training and/or certificates as required by regulatory agencies and/or Company guidelines.
