Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections) Health Services lead the delivery of patient-focused primary health care services to tangata within corrections facilities across Aotearoa. Hōkai Rangi, our over-arching strategic direction, places the focus on health at the heart of our business. Building our frameworks from a Matauranga Māori basis is our focus to drive and support equity for Māori, which in turn will contribute to achieving our outcomes of reducing reoffending.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
The Clinical Team Leader Health at Christchurch Women's Prison calls for an experienced clinician with advanced knowledge and expertise in nursing, combined with a natural ability to advance nursing services through providing day-to-day team leadership, coaching, support and guidance to our health centre staff.
You'll work closely alongside the Health Centre Manager and the team to oversee and ensure the smooth running of the unit, modelling culturally safe clinical practice and partnership that promotes Humanising and Healing - respecting the human dignity and inherent mana of all tāne in our management. Your ability to exercise professional judgment and assist the team with complex case resolution will be invaluable, and you'll be a first port of call to support and assist the men in our management with any concerns, or potential complaints, as they arise. In addition to managing team rostering and clinical reporting, you'll also have regular opportunities to liaise and work with external providers on health-related referral requests and processing.
Mōu | About you
- Registered Nurse who holds a current Nursing Council of New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and expertise in nursing, combined with leadership experience
- Experience with successful liaison in the development and delivery of services
- A proven commitment to providing professional and ethical clinical care that is focussed on meeting offender health needs;
- Empathetic communication and relationship management skills; and
- Report writing capability combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The salary steps for this role are $92,687, $96,030, $102,178 based on demonstrable skills and experience, in line with our Nursing Collective Agreement.
