The foundation of the National System Practice Lead role is built on 5 principles created during formulation of the family violence workforce and organisational capability frameworks, (the Family Violence Entry to Expert and Specialist Family Violence Organisational Standards frameworks).This role will bring these principles to life through implementation and practice as demonstrated by the examples below:
Kotahitanga
- Relationships and Inclusion:
Amplify awareness and responsiveness to the needs of under-served communities, highlighting and addressing barriers to inclusion, prioritising equity, and driving change to support these needs and achieve equity. Actively champion the needs and amplify the voices of tamariki and young people experiencing family violence and sexual violence and lead advocacy for change required to meet their family violence and sexual violence response needs. Advocate for a twin-track approach to family violence and sexual violence, making sure mainstream services and supports are inclusive of, and accessible to, marginalised and rural communities, and that services and supports cater to the specific contexts and needs of children and young people, older people, Pacific peoples, ethnic communities, disabled and Deaf people, and LGBTQIA+ people.

Kaitiakitanga
- Protection and Accountability:
Advance national level discussion and understanding around the issues facing small and rural communities, tangata whenua, children and young people, older people, Pacific peoples, ethnic communities, disabled and Deaf people, and LGBTQIA+ people, especially around safety issues, and be able to highlight and address barriers to inclusion for marginalised communities. Focus on workforce capability building regarding people who use violence including organisational level interventions to hold them accountable, how others can hold them accountable and how the system can hold them accountable.

Mahi Tahi
- Collaboration and Advocacy:
Collaborate with existing partners and build new partnerships helping to influence change in knowledge, skills, practices within the specialist family violence and sexual violence sector, and support the development of workforces and organisational intersecting with people experiencing family violence and sexual violence, by engaging with practice leaders within key partner organisations. Partner with agencies to support implementation and embedding of the workforce capability frameworks and tools as needed.

Ora - Wellbeing and Restoration:
Koi Mahi
- Innovation and Learning:
Contribute to the family violence and sexual violence system research picture regarding workforce capability across Aotearoa New Zealand. Create and build upon feedback loops spanning ‘grass-roots' community, regional and national level involvements, helping to share their insights and learnings and influence change.

**Ō** pūkenga/Skills and Experience**

**Education/Professional Qualifications**

Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience in practice leadership within FVSV

**Experience**
- Extensive practice experience based on sound knowledge of family violence and/or sexual violence dynamics
- Demonstrated practice leadership and ability to reflect on practice operationally, and identify change improvement required systemically and strategically
- Expertise in leading organisations and workforce teams in a complex and demanding environment
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and responsively in both government and non-government settings
- Proven leadership and decision-making skills
- Proven record of working as an individual and in a team environment
- Proven record of delivering quality work, including under tight time constraints
- Experience and comfort working in a high-paced and changing environment
- Knowledge, or ability to learn, about the of machinery of government and public sector processes and systems
- Knowledge of, and ability to contribute to, investment planning specific to workforce capability building

- Ability to think at a relational and systemic level and mediate and manage different, divergent and competing interests
- Ability to flex and change focus as well as to see issues through to resolution
- Ability to build rapport with others based on own integrity and honesty, demonstrating effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to generate trust and confidence when working with people across the system, both in government, organisations and communities
- Ability to manage complex working relationships with people within the government, public and voluntary sectors and with community interest groups and networks in a trustworthy and confidential manner
- Good communication skills - both written and oral - and ability to listen to
