At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.
We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

About our group and team
Te Mahau | Te Tai Runga (South) is a frontline group. Our frontline groups will collectively provide leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support and education advice, and regulation functions for schools and early learning services.
Learning Support is a critical part of the Te Mahau | Te Tai Runga (South) Group in the Ministry. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education.
Our Learning Support specialists work closely with families, whānau, caregivers, schools and early childhood educators in English and Māori medium settings and other agencies to help maximise learning outcomes and promote social inclusion.

We are looking for someone who can lead change, influence and enthuse others, and work collaboratively with colleagues (both managers and staff) to develop responsive practice.
Our Practice and Implementation Advisers work with the Performance and Quality Lead to implement practice changes, support arataki | induction and ongoing professional development of staff across our Learning Support and Education teams.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

**Reporting to the Performance and Quality Lead, you will**:

- in collaboration with other Practice Implementation Advisers, lead the implementation of learning support best practice across Learning Support teams
- work closely with Education Managers to develop professional learning pathways for Education Teams
- build and maintain strong relationships with the education sector including local communities of learning to assess and respond to their needs through practice development.
- support and facilitate responsive practice innovations and the adoption and implementation of new ways of thinking, behaving and working; and
- provide practice thought leadership and facilitate system-wide practice approaches.

**Your role will also include**:

- working with the National Practice Network and in particular other Practice Implementation Advisers across Te Mahau | Te Tai Runga (South) to contribute specialist expertise to help build strong and consistent practice across our region and Aotearoa
- building strong relationships and credibility within the Ministry and across the sector; and
- proactively contributing to the development of an effective working environment within Learning Support functions regionally and nationally that facilitates high performance, continuous learning, collaboration, engagement and creativity.
