Regional Park Conservation Specialist

Job Description:
- As a Park Ranger, you will play a vital role in enabling safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation and education experiences in regional park settings while conserving and protecting natural and cultural heritage resources.
- You will work closely with a tight-knit team focused on coordinating conservation work across multiple parks, contributing to the wider regional park operations, and managing volunteers in achieving conservation goals.
- The role requires strong relationships with stakeholders, the community, and Iwi liaison, as well as fostering and supporting volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support volunteers in achieving conservation goals, including assisting in planning and implementing work programs.
- Establish strong relationships with stakeholders, the community, and Iwi liaison, promoting conservation values and educating the public on the importance of preserving our natural and cultural heritage.
- Work closely within a team focused on coordinating conservation work across multiple parks, contributing to the wider regional park operations, and managing volunteer programs.
- Support both formal and informal education programs, collaborating closely with external stakeholders and facilitating effective communication with a range of public, community groups, and volunteers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong conservation skills, including pest control and threatened species management, revegetation programs, and protecting natural and cultural heritage.
- Proven success in conservation outcomes and an appreciation for managing recreation in ecologically significant spaces.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working with diverse groups, including Iwi, community groups, and volunteers.
- Strong time management skills, allowing for prioritization and flexibility in adapting to unexpected situations.
