Conservation and Education Officer

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Park Ranger to join our Southern Sector Parks Team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality conservation and educational experiences in regional parks while maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for visitors.
Key Accountabilities:
- Deliver conservation programs and projects that achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including Iwi, community groups, and volunteers, to promote conservation values and educate the public on the importance of preserving our natural and cultural heritage.
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure visitor safety by adhering to best practices in risk management and emergency response.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement integrated conservation and education programs, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
What You'll Need:
- A strong background in conservation and asset management, with a focus on ecological restoration, habitat management, and protected area management.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with volunteer management, recruitment, and training, along with a strong commitment to building and sustaining partnerships with Iwi, community groups, and external stakeholders.
- A current NZ driver's license and physical fitness to perform tasks associated with this role.
