Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regional Park Manager to join our team at Auckland Council. As a key member of our Southern Sector Parks Team, you will play a vital role in enabling safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation and education experiences in regional park settings, while conserving and protecting natural and cultural heritage resources.

The successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating conservation work across the three parks (Ambury Regional Park, Mutukaroa/Hamlin's Hill Regional Park, and Puketutu Island- Te Motu a Hiaroa), managing and supporting volunteers in achieving conservation goals, and establishing strong relationships with stakeholders and the wider community.

This is a permanent full-time position that requires weekend and public holiday work, as well as on-call responsibilities on a ranger roster system. We are looking for a motivated, people-oriented person who can add value and contribute to a committed team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enable safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation and education experiences in regional park settings
  • Coordinate conservation work across the three parks
  • Manage and support volunteers in achieving conservation goals
  • Establish strong relationships with stakeholders and the wider community

Requirements:

  • Strong conservation skills, including pest control and threatened species management
  • Proven success in conservation outcomes and an appreciation for managing recreation in ecologically significant spaces
  • Effective communication and time management skills
  • Physical fitness and proven practical skills with a strong background in conservation and asset management
