Role Overview: As a skilled Clinical Addiction Specialist, you will join our dedicated team at Southern District Health Board (New Zealand) to provide comprehensive treatment and support to individuals struggling with substance abuse. About the Position: We are seeking an experienced Addiction Treatment Therapist to work closely with our multidisciplinary team, providing expert assessment, treatment planning, and documentation for clients receiving Alcohol and Other Drug treatment. You will be responsible for conducting new assessments, ongoing treatment, and co-facilitating therapeutic groups, as well as collaborating with General Practitioners, DHB Mental Health Services, and external NGOs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • • Provide individualized treatment plans tailored to meet the needs of each client
  • Conduct regular assessments and reviews to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients

Requirements: To succeed in this role, you will possess a solid understanding of addiction issues, experience working with clients with co-existing problems (CEP), and excellent communication skills. A registered mental health professional (Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, or DAPAANZ registered clinician) with Drug and Alcohol experience is highly desirable. However, if you are a Registered Nurse, we would be happy to consider your application. It is also beneficial to hold appropriate addiction-specific qualifications.
